Frequently Asked Questions.....

Q - What do I need to bring with me to Holiday Cottages?
A - We provide one set of linen per bed (sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases).  Towells can be provided for £5 per bale.  
Q - When do I need to pay the balance of the holiday?
A - The balance outstanding must be paid no later than 8 weeks before the first day of hire. If the period between booking and first day of the holiday is less than 8 weeks the full balance & security deposit will be required.
Q At the start/end of the season will the swimming pool be operational?
A - The pool is solar heated but we can only guarantee the availability of the pool from mid-May through to mid-October.
Q I'm going early/late in the season will it still be warm?
A - Although Charente is a sunny region of France, in early and late season after a sunny day the evenings may feel a little cool.  You are advised to bring some warmer clothing for the evenings.
Q - How will I know where it is and how to get there?
A - Two weeks before your first day we will send you comprehensive directions on how to get to Chez Mesnier.  
Q - What are the restaurants like?
A - There are many places in which you can eat out locally.  Dressing up is OK for some of the larger restaurants but for most of the local ones you will feel more comfortable in casual gear.
Q - Will I be asked to pay a security deposit?
A - Yes.  When the balance payment is due you will also have to pay a security deposit of £200.  This is refundable assuming no damage occurs.
Q - Does the house have a television?
A- There is a DVD player and a radio/tape/CD player.  There are also loads of books and games for you to use during your stay.  A television with video port and DVD player is provided.  UK free-to-air television can be provided at a cost of £10 per week.
Q - What time must I vacate the property on my last day?
A - We ask that guests leave the property by 10am ensuring that the houses are left in a clean and tidy condition and that all rubbish has been disposed of, or recycled, accordingly.
Q - Do I have to do housework on my holiday?
A - No.  Although all properties are expected to be left as clean and tidy as they were found on arrival, a cleaning service is available for an additional charge of £35.  Please inform us prior to your departure if you would like to take advantage of this service.
Q - The weeks I'd like are already booked, how do I reserve the following year?
A - Simply send us a message with your name, address, phone and email and we'll be sure to offer those weeks to you before anyone else and before we advertise in the press.
